At Bazaar, we’re on a mission to build an operating system for traditional retail in Pakistan, that creates opportunities for retailers, suppliers and workforce across the country. We are continuously working towards cultivating an environment that inspires, empowers and challenges each individual as they take on this road to self-discovery.

Bazaar’s journey began in May 2020 in Karachi, now we’re humbled to be present in over eight cities, raising $107.8 million funding, with hundreds of dreamers and go-getters on our team working tirelessly to take our company to new heights every passing moment! Job Overview

As a Software Engineer (Backend) at Bazaar you will primarily be focusing on developing backend software and services that backs all the activities happening across different functions of Bazaar. You will also have the unique opportunity to explore other areas of software development like mobile apps, devops, security, web frontend, scripting and more.

 

We have a high preference for candidates who have made local community and open source software contributions, if you are an active contributor, please make sure to add your GitHub profile in your application.

 

Technical Skills Required

• Unit Testing (and other kinds of testing)
• Java
• Spring Boot
• ORM (e.g. Hibernate)
• SQL (e.g. Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSql)
• No-SQL (e.g. MongoDB, Cassandra)
• Any major Cloud Platform (e.g. AWS, Google Cloud)
• Working experience with Microservices Architecture
• Debugging & Logging
• API Development
• Computer science fundamentals
• Problem Solving

Skills Required

• Experience in relevant roles
• Expertise in any other major languages (e.g. JavaScript, Python), infrastructure as code (e.g. AWS Cloudformation, Terraform), Queuing and Caching systems (e.g. AWS SQS, Redis, RabbitMQ, ELK stack) will also be preferred
• Self-starter, 100% ownership and unshakeable enthusiasm
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Should possess strong willingness to get hands dirty (literally), get stuff done and strong work ethics
• Has relentless focus, strong prioritization skills, and the ability to multitask while working in a highly charged environment
